Flashback Friday Favorite - Worship the Lord

It's about four more months before Christmas and I've loved revisiting the Christmas stamp sets of past releases.  Another beautiful holiday set was released about a year ago and it's still sure to please one and all...Worship the Lord!

The image of a quaint church surrounded by the beauty and wonder of the winter season brings forth the feeling of peace and tranquility. 

You can have so much fun with different colors for the church building or create gorgeous snow scenes!  Just look at these fantastic cards:

 

 

 

 

Whether you like the traditional red and green Christmas colors or the blue and white colors of winter or even the black and cream of a nostalgic yuletide past, you can't go wrong with this beautiful Worship the Lord set!

Time With Chris

Today I would like to share one of the new and upcoming new releases for August, two days from now!! I just love all the verses that Kelley carries in all of her gorgeous stamp sets!!  The verse used is from the new release Jesus.  I love to color images but for the purpose of this post, I wanted to show you how fun and easy it is to create a card without any images.

 

   I just love the Windsor Roses Chelsea from Prima that Kelley carries in the store.  I used a peach flower and paired it up with the K & Co. Que Sera designer paper also available at ODBD. Since I gold embossed my verse, I sewed with gold metallic thread on the borders.  I also used the Spellbinders Flourish Accents on metallic paper and embossed some gold embossing powder on the edges of my rose to blend it in with the rest of my card.  The white frame is created with the new Spellbinders Fleur De Lis die.  The background frame is created by cutting the die cut in half and placing it against the side edges of the designer paper leaving a gap for my turned die cut to peek through.  The bottom border is made using the EK Success Fleur De Lis punch.

DT Card of the Day - Betty Wright!

We love seeing the many various styles of our Bread Basket team and it's always wonderful to see the many interpretations they have for the stamp sets that are released every month.  This card from Betty stood out because of the unique colors she pulled together using the Mother Teresa and Grow in Grace sets:

 

The black and lavender is striking against the yellow and that gingham bow is the perfect "wow" factor!  The dry embossed background is wonderfully subtle and the cross charm is just pure bliss.

Time With Jane

It's Tuesday and time for "Time With....."!  Every Tuesday and Thursday, one of the Bread Basket members will share a project with you here, and then you can hop on over to their personal blog for more good stuff!

Today it's Time With Jane Wetzel.

Jane says:
When thinking about my blog post for ODBD I thought about what I  REALLY like about ODBD.... The best thing to me is the fact that NO other company sells these kinds of Biblical verses.  Simply put, there is a verse for every occasion or thought you may want to express to someone. 

With that in mind I thought it best to create SIMPLE cards that can be put together quickly for someone special in your life.  THAT is the best thing about ODBD verses!  The words or should I say the "Word" says it all not needing a fancy card!  If you are like me you often times need something simple but gorgeous...

This is what I came up with!

The designer paper used here is by Basic Grey --  from the "Lemonade" and "June Bug" collections ALSO available from ODBD (call to find out order number and prices).  All that was needed was a few border punches (they can be most any) and maybe some ribbon. Or you can use your Cuttlebug. 

I will tell you though... it was a bit hard for me not to sew or add a lot of extras!! In the end I am happy with the result!! 

My images are from the July releases, Mother Teresa, Let Us Begin and Grow in Grace.

I hope I have inspired all you out there that think they need to do soooo much when all that makes these cards is the verses which are PLENTIFUL here at Our Daily Bread designs!!

Just a Bit About Judy

Today we visit with Bread Basket Member and DT Coordinator, Judy Rozema.

How long have you been stamping, and how did you start?
I first began stamping way back in 1992, when I found a couple of fun images at an office store in Arizona.  After moving to Nebraska and discovering a lack of craft stores, I heard about Stampin' Up! and immediately signed up to be a
demonstrator, just so I would have access to supplies!  I didn't stamp a lot, until I found SCS in 2004.

How long have you been on the ODBD DT?
Kelley first asked me to be a Guest Designer and then I joined the regular Bread Basket in August of 2008. I have been the DT Coordinator since January 2009.

How would you describe your "style"?
I am not sure that I have one particular style.  I like things straight and organized -- I guess I am "MOTR" - (middle of the road) - as my friend, Juliana, calls it.  I like some layers and embellishments, but not a ton. I like several different image styles too, so I guess I could have an eclectic style! 

What was the first stamp you ever bought?
A giraffe!  I still have it.
 
Describe the "weirdest" stamp you have.
Probably a broken cow head skull with horns.  I did not buy it -- it was sent to me in an order for "free." Go figure!
 
What is your favorite medium to work with?
I love to watercolor! I use markers and water, reinkers and an aqua brush, and paint! 

What is your favorite technique?
Polished Stone ranks up at the top! I love the marbled look.

What is your favorite or most used tool? (Other than the basics: adhesive, scissors, etc.)
Gotta be my Cuttlebug and my Stamp-a-ma-Jig!!

What is your favorite ODBD set and why?
My favorite would have to be the Scripture Collections.  It was really special to have all the DT members submit favorite verses to be made into a stamp set. I had a hard time choosing, and think I changed my mind three times! 

What inspires you in your stamping?
Good photographs with lots of color - textures - and two people that I consider my stamping heroes -- Tosh and Amy. They are amazing designers! I am honored to call them friends, and am blessed to have met both of them in person!

What is one of the top items on your stamping wish list?
ADHESIVE.  Any kind -- I am always running out!

Do you have a favorite black ink that you like to use?
I use several, but really like VersaFine Black Onyx.

What is one food you couldn't live without?
I suppose it would have to be chicken.  I could eat chicken just about every day.  I love chocolate, but could actually live without it.  Now Diet Coke --- that is another thing!

Is there a song or book title that reflects your personality? 
Maybe "Hey Jude"?  :)

When is the best time of day for you to be creative?
EARLY!!  I am up by 5 almost every day and I spend the first hour or so in my stamp room!

Anything you'd like to tell about yourself or stamping that I haven't asked?

I am so glad that I discovered stamping.  It is such a creative outlet for someone that can't draw or paint! It is something that my mom and sister and I love to do together and I really love that.  My family is so supportive of my efforts - even if they tease me and roll their eyes when I get excited about brads, or ribbon -- or ADHESIVE!  :)
Through stamping, I have met (online and in person) MANY wonderful people (including Kelley and the Bread Basket members!) that I am blessed to call my friends!

Time With Connie

It's Thursday and time for "Time With....."!  Every Tuesday and Thursday, one of the Bread Basket members will share a project with you here, and then you can hop on over to their personal blog for more good stuff!

Today it's time with Connie McCotter, one of the new July Bread Basket members!

Connie says: I have seen many inspirational quote books, and when I saw all the wonderful quotes in both Our Daily Bread designs Mother Teresa and Let Us Begin sets, I thought it would be fun to create my very own inspirational quote book with them!

For the cover, the background paper was created by using glossy paper and alcohol inks to give it a sort of marbled look. The images and sentiment are all stamped in black craft and then heat embossed with clear EP. Additionally, the two flowers in the corner images were stamped again, heat embossed, cut out and the placed over the already stamped images. The corners have been ticketed, and then adorned with a few Hero Arts black half pearls. Finally, I created the book with my bind-it-all, and added some black and rose red ribbons across the spiral top.

These two wonderful sets have a total of seven quotes, so I then used the remaining six quotes within the book. I have a few samples of the inner pages here for you. This first page uses the larger of the two lotus flower corner image, while the second uses the smaller lotus corner image.

For these pages, I used the largest Label 1 Nestabilities. Again, the sentiment and images were stamped in black craft ink, and heat embossed with clear embossing powder. Additionally, each of the lotus flowers were stamped and embossed on some more of the alcohol ink covered glossy white paper, cut out, and popped up on a few dimensionals.

Customer Cards of the Day - Mary Anderson & Linda Riesgraf!

Yes, there are TWO cards of the day because they were both so fantastic that I couldn't choose!  Each were stunning in very different ways and I wanted to spotlight these talented ladies here.

This first beauty is by Mary and I just adore the clean crisp look of her Footprints in the Sand card:

 

She did a fantastic job highlighting the scripture with the use of the Spellbinders Label Four dies set as well as decorative paper to match the brown tones.  The little bow on the button was a great finishing touch!  You can see more of Mary's fabulous work on her blog, It's All About The Journey, and in her SCS gallery, scrappersister.

This next beauty if by Linda (a two-time CODer...LOL! ) and it showed patriotism at its finest:

 

I simply loved the rustic Americana feel of her card and her eagle from the In God We Trust set was beautifully colored!  Her layers of the Spellbinders Labels Three and Large Pinking Circleshighlighted the majestic eagle just perfectly.  Check out her SCS gallery, Doodledop, for more eye-candy!

Time With Lorelie

It's Tuesday and time for "Time With....."!  Every Tuesday and Thursday, one of the Bread Basket members will share a project with you here, and then you can hop on over to their personal blog for more good stuff!

Today it's Time With Lorelie Kim:

I love the dogwoods in the Grow in Grace set because you can play around with various colors and put a little personal "spin" to it here, there and everywhere! 

I stamped the dogwoods with Versamark and heat embossed with Ranger Embossing Powders (a mixture of Super Fine Gold and Gold Tinsel) on Canson watercolor paper.  I did that 3 times in order to make the flowers pop out.  I covered the flowers with Diamond Glaze to add even more dimension.  I also heat embossed the word "grace" with Super Fine Gold.  Extra details are always a plus (if you don't use an overwhelming amount) so I added a few Basic  Grey Opalines and mini brads as well as May Arts Ribbon.

Let's Talk With Angie Z.!

Today we are chatting with Bread Basket member Angie Zublionis.  Pull up a chair and spend some time with us learning more about her!

How long have you been stamping, and how did you start?
I started with scrapbooking in the summer of 2001. I was recently married and didn't have a teaching job yet so I decided to create a scrapbook of our wedding. I just plunged right on into the scrapbooking world and was having a blast. A few months later a friend invited me to go along to this home party thingy called  "Stampin' Up!"  I said I would go but I wasn't interested in stamping, just getting some scrapping ideas! Little did I know.... I made fast work transitioning into stamping. Fast forward 8 years and my scrapbooks are so dusty and neglected but I have a wonderful assortment of stamped cards on hand at all times!  About 4 years ago, when we moved from Florida to North Carolina, seems to be when I really started to focus on developing my own style and trying new techniques.
 
How long have you been on the ODBD DT?
Kelly contacted me at the beginning of April in 2008, right after ODBD first launched and I've been a part of this awesome ministry ever since.

How would you describe your "style"?
I'm generally drawn to and most comfortable with vintage, elegant, shabby chic, and floral styles. I absolutely adore all things flowers! I also lean more towards a distressed and aged look over simple and clean. Many times my creations have "more" and not "less" on them.  I rarely do cutesy. I like the cutesy style that others have but I have a hard time with it myself.  I try to challenge myself with at making one-layer cards at times. So would that mean that a one-layer cutesy card would be the ultimate challenge for me? Might just be! LOL!

What was the first stamp you ever bought?
I actually had some stamps in my college days, not that I knew what to do with them though. I had a few Winnie the Pooh stamps and a baby seal. I probably picked them because they were cute. My first stamp purchase after getting introduced to stamping for real was the a cutesy stamp called Home, Tweet Home from Stampin' Up! Yeah, I really didn't know what to do with it, either!

Describe the "weirdest" stamp you have.
Hmmmm... Off the top of my head, I have a sentiment stamp that says "Famous last words..." No idea how I got my hands on it but I have it and I'm not really sure what to do with it. So it's never seen ink.

What is your favorite medium to work with?
It took me awhile to get comfortable with aqua painters and reinkers but that's probably my favorite now. I recently invested in some copics and I have a lot to learn with them still!

What is your favorite technique?
Making things dirty! I love to distress paper and ink it all up by sponging and inking directly on paper!

What is your favorite or most used tool? (Other than the basics: adhesive, scissors, etc.)
A paper distresser. At any given time there are 4 or 5 of them on my scrap table. I'd be lost without 'em!

What is your favorite ODBD set and why?
Sing to the Lord and the Scripture Collections are my favorites year-round sets. I think Sing to the Lord has such beautiful images and I just love the awesome variety of wonderful scripture verses that the design team girls contributed for the Scripture Collections. Each selection has a truly special & wonderful meaning and all together it's a powerful set of verses to inspire, encourage or bless anyone. I also adore Christmas stamps as well so Joy to the World is a favorite Christmas set to go to for holiday cards.

What inspires you in your stamping?
I'm very visual and find myself quickly inspired by beautiful things around me, such as flowers and nature as well as rich vibrant colors. I love to browse through home decor & garden magazines or websites and nature photography always inspires me.

What is one of the top items on your stamping wish list?
An organized stamp studio? LOL! I'll keep dreaming!
Definitely more Nestabilities and I'm always keeping an eye out for beautiful flower embellishments.

Do you have a favorite black ink that you like to use?
Currently, I've been a fan of Ranger Archival Ink Jet Black.

What is one food you couldn't live without?
Since chocolate is a given, I would have to say shrimp!

Is there a song or book title that reflects your personality?
Goodness! I love to read and I love music so it's hard to nail down just one. I do collect children's books and have a large collection so maybe one of them? Possibly Giggle, Giggle, Quack? Hee Hee :)

When is the best time of day for you to be creative?
Night! I'm totally a nightowl and always have been. Seems to be when I get the most inspired. I also seem to be most inspired and creative when I'm surrounded by a bit of a mess. Don't ask me why but I just seem to function best with some clutter piled around me!

Anything you'd like to tell about yourself or stamping that I haven't asked?
Recently I've decided to get back into my scrapping. I have several family albums in the works. They're coming along, slowly but surely. I think I just might need a whole other room to devote just to it! We'll see what happens!
 
I do believe that I'm so blessed to have found such a wonderfully creative hobby to be a part of and to have met so many wonderful friends through it from all around the world! Eight years ago I never could have imagined myself doing this and being part of such a great team! I'm so glad that God knows best and brings us to places we never would have reached on our own!
